Early Childhood Support Programme
One of EHF’s core strategic objectives is to “improve the health and educational status of children 2-6 years old and the quality of the environment in which they learn.” EHF believes that positive change can be realized in Jamaica through nurturing and supporting its youngest citizens. Against this background, EHF has initiated projects and programmes geared at improving the physical learning environment of children in the early childhood age cohort, as well as providing educational resource materials to these children. The overall goal of the programme is to create a learning environment that will inspire, challenge and prepare children to be achievers.
To date, EHF has outfitted several basic schools with new windows and doors, built perimeter walls for security purposes, upgraded play areas with the necessary tools and equipment, as well as donated books, computers, teacher chairs and desks.
