Caribbean Wellness & Lifestyle Magazine
The Caribbean Wellness & Lifestyle magazine (link the name of the magazine to this www.pelicanpublishers.com.jm/html/index.php/wellness-lifestyle-magazine/) is the flagship publication of Pelican Publishers Limited (hyperlink Pelican Publishers Limited to their website), a member of the EHF Group of Companies (link EHF Group of Companies to the section on our website that speaks to the Group). The publication, which is printed quarterly, promotes healthy lifestyle concepts, and is an informative resource that provides advice for living healthier, happier and longer lives through features on health and nutrition, fitness, fashion, beauty, spirituality, education, technology and finance.
St. Andrew South Summer Camp
The Hunts Bay Police Station (St Andrew South Community Safety and Unit) hosted a 2-week residential summer camp (August 16-29, 2011) in Robins Bay, St. Mary for 100 at risk youths, aged 7-17, from Kingston inner-city communities. The objectives of the summer camp were:
- To further enhance Community Based Policing.
- To recruit, train and employ ten (10) youths and community leaders to manage the activities of the camp.
- To organize and deliver fifty (50) hours of structured activities for participants.
- To improve police/youths relations within the St. Andrew South Police Division.
- Reduction of Anti Social behaviour in youth within St Andrew south Police division.
The main activities of the project included:
- Lectures on Conflict management, Children’s right and responsibilities, Road safety, Drug abuse
- Reading
- Speech, Drama, Sewing
- Art & Craft, Barbering, Hairdressing
EHF supported this project by providing funding toward healthy meals for the children, as well as educational resource materials.
